Where to find the Payer ICN?
Purpose:
To guide users in locating the 13-digit Internal Control Number (ICN) that serves as proof of claim receipt and processing by payers.
Scope:
This article covers:
- Definition and purpose of ICN numbers
- Retrieving ICNs from the clearinghouse portal
Excludes: - ICN retrieval for paper claims
- Troubleshooting missing ICNs
- Payer-specific ICN formats
Procedure:
- Access Claim:
- Log in to your clearinghouse website
- Open the target claim
- Locate ICN:
- Navigate to Events panel (right side)
- Select Final Acknowledgement
- Click View Acknowledgement
- Find the 13-digit ICN

This is a 13-digit number. It is a proof that the claim was received by the payer and for final processing.
If you open your claim on the clearinghouse website > go to Events in the right hand panel
> click Final Acknowledgement > View Acknowledgement
